Loaded Oatmeal Cookies

I love spiced desserts, so it’s no surprise that I love these cookies.  They are huge and packed full of flavor. I like to make these cookies around holiday time because of the bold flavor. They are great at coffee time.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups light brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice
  • 2 1/2 cups oats
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
Cream together butter, shortening and sugars in mixer until fluffy.
Add eggs and beat until light .
Add buttermilk.
Sift all dry ingredients  and stir into creamed mixture.
Fold in oatmeal, raisins, walnuts and vanilla.
Drop onto sheet pan
BAKE 350*f for 12 to 15 min.
Drizzle with icing.
